Hey friends,
Long time no writing, huh?
I started creating/blogging to be real with you guys & show the highs & lows in life. I wanted to talk about the things that were hard to say out loud, write about it to the best of my knowledge & share it with all of you.
So as you can see, I’ve been slacking on creating – blogging game WEAK.
This has been due to many things – I haven’t been feeling all that inspired lately, I started a new job that I wanted to give all of my energy to, I was having a hard time mentally, trying to work on myself & my man was home for his off season, so I want to give him my attention as well.
I am working on finding the time to feed my passions, however, I also don’t want to put out fake content. I don’t want to force a post out there just to keep up my numbers or any of that – that’s just not the goal here.
That’s not me – I want to be real with you.
So the real question is, how do you spark your passions again? How do you get back after doing the things that you love?
Let’s go, how to spark your creativity again!
Just start again
Easier said than done. Whatever your niche may be – writing, photography, running, knitting, thrifting, fishing – just go for it. Go at it with an open mind, have no end goal in sight. Get out on the water, grab a pen, pick out a new yarn & just freaking go for it.
Change up your scenery
Do you have an office that you write in? Buy new decor, rearrange your space, get a new office chair, or maybe go all out & purchase a new desk. The fish aren’t biting? Go explore a new lake or maybe try a new lure. Can’t stand editing anymore? Buy a new computer mouse or something, I DON’T KNOW, just anything. Change it up!
Create a Vision Board
Where do you see yourself by the end of this year? What goals do you have? What do you want more of in your life? Vision boards help you plan & map out what’s to come, it gets your creative juices flowing all while setting personal goals – it’s a win, win.
Reminisce
This one helps me a lot – If I want to get back into the gym, but I seem to be lacking motivation, I look at pictures from when I was my healthiest. If I want to start writing again, but can’t seem to spark my creativity, I read through my old blogs. If I can’t think of a caption, I go through my quotes book, where I keep quotes that mean something to me – it helps get the brain going & reminds you of your ‘why’.
Read a book
There’s nothing like reading a book from someone who is a professional on the topic. What they have to say might spark an idea in your head, or at least get your mind thinking about it.
Take a shower
Personally, I think someone needs to create a shower notebook or something – some of my best ideas or daydreams happen when I am in the shower & more often than not, I forget them by the time I’m done & drying off. Just stand there, let the water hit your body & let your mind wander.
Collaborate
Do you have someone you trust? Bounce your ideas off of them, ask questions, look for opinions, brainstorm together – they might be able to help you spark something inside of your mind that you keep missing!
Doodle
Feed your creativity bug! One of my personal favorites – grab a notebook & colorful pen & draw it out. Personally, I like to pull up some of my favorite quotes & write them out. Cursive, bubble letters, polka dots, literally anything. Hopefully it sparks that creative flow.
Keep a notebook
I have a notebook everywhere you could possibly imagine – in my purse, on my desk at home, on my desk at work, in my work backpack, on my nightstand next to my bed, in my car, etc. This way, if I ever have an idea or need to remember something or do something – jot it down really quick. Here’s the catch, be sure to keep a pen as well 😉
Let yourself be bored
Put your phone away, turn the tv off, shut your laptop down, and just be bored. Let your mind wander, and imagine.
Pamper yourself
This has always helped me – I believe when I am lacking creativity it is because I am stressed. So I go & pamper, or treat myself. Get your nails done, lay out in the sun, get your hair done, do a face mask, get a massage, go to the chiropractor, go window shopping, go actual shopping, go for a drive & listen to your favorite music. Just do something for you so you can feel good.
There you have it, a few ways to help dig yourself out of a creative rut & hopefully spark your passion again! Remember, if you ever catch yourself feeling stuck – try not to be too hard on yourself. We are only human, you are not going to be 100% everyday & that is OKAY.
I truly believe it is okay to take a break from all things, even the things that bring you joy! Taking a break allows your mind to reset & recharge – so that when you’re ready to come back at it, you are at 100%.
So have no fear, it’s just a rut, you will climb out of it & all will be creative again <3
